Will Obama's legacy be Mid-East peace?

By Bill Cisowski

The opportunity for the Obama White House to move the world closer toward Mid-East peace is now apparent in their recent decision not to launch strikes against Syria even in the face of many critics.  The U.S and Israel, in a bid to topple President Bashar al-Assad had been waging a mercenary war in the region for months.  The whole world watched as the use of chemical weapons was blamed on Syria and Iran, a charge that most internet-savvy bloggers did not buy.

Serious questions quickly arose concerning who was to blame for these attacks.  Obama, to his credit, stood firm in the face of Netanyahu's "redline rhetoric".  The result became a new opportunity for peace talks as Iran's newly-elected president Hassan Rouhani came forth with new concessions on Iran's nuclear program.

The question remains, will U.S. lawmakers and their business community supporters  favor lifting of sanctions against Iran in an effort to encourage further peace initiatives?

Obama, who is now taking the heat from Obamacare failures, may yet salvage his legacy by displaying courage in a peace initiative even the face of current critics.
